Composite Blinds

Composite blinds are made with a combination of faux (polymer) and hardwood materials. This blind is designed to address some of the limitations of both faux and wood blinds. The product resists warping, cracking, chipping and fading. It also has a good selection of colors, styles and textures while maintaining a more real wood look.

Common features:

  • Headrail real wood valance
  • Solid and Decorative tapes
  • Cordless lift and tilt systems
  • Routless slats
  • Color coordinated tassels

What to look for:
Composite blinds should contain quality metal components: headrail, tumblers and cord locks. You are looking for quality materials and workmanship throughout the product. Composite blinds will be somewhat heavier than an all wood product and will require more ladders to support the slats. This blind works better in high moisture environments than all wood.

Pros:

  • Price point is usually between faux and all wood blinds
  • Available in many colors and stains
  • Works better in high moisture environments than all wood blinds
  • Closer to a real wood look and feel

Cons:

  • Typically more expensive than faux wood products
  • Heavier than all wood and will require more ladders in larger windows
  • Not an all wood product
